Welcome to Winsford Amateur Boxing Club

Our History

Founded in early 1969 by John Ingles and Councillor Thomas Blackmore, Winsford Amateur Boxing Club (WABC) was born out of a shared passion for boxing and a desire to bring the sport to the community. Both newcomers to Winsford during the town’s urban redevelopment, Ingles and Blackmore recognized a need for a boxing club and took it upon themselves to establish Winsford’s first-ever boxing facility.

Since then, WABC has become one of the oldest amateur boxing clubs affiliated with England Boxing, making it a true fixture in the local community. For over five decades, the club has been dedicated to training, mentoring, and inspiring young boxers from all walks of life. It’s a place where champions are made—not just in the ring but also in life.

Today, Winsford ABC continues to honour its founders’ legacy, fostering discipline, respect, and resilience in every member who steps through its doors. We’re proud of our rich history and even prouder of the community we serve.
